LG Optimus 4X HD UK Release Date Set for August 27

As LG will be unleashing its new flagship handset, the Optimus 4X HD in the United Kingdom on August 27, UK gadget retailer Phones 4U has just set up a pre-order page for the new device. As an added incentive for the first fifty pre-order customers chosen, Phones 4U is offering two tickets each to a Cheryl Cole concert at Birmingham’s LG Arena.

The Optimus 4X HD is the South Korean manufacturer’s latest attempt to make a dent in the crowded smartphone market, and its trump card could be the new User Experience features, including Media Plex and QuickMemo. The former application would allow creative editing of video content, including zooming in and drawing while playing back videos on the phone.

QuickMemo, on the other hand, is a status-sharing application which allows users to write down anything that’s on their mind, then immediately share it with contacts.

The specifications of the Optimus 4X HD suggest a powerful device – a 4.7-inch touchscreen with 720p capability, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and 16 GB internal memory. The device will also come with an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera and 2,150 mAh battery.

As illustrated above, these specs are very similar to those of another Korean superphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3. UK carriers offering the Optimus 4X HD include T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange and O2, with monthly plans starting at £26 per month.
