Leaked Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for HTC One X Available Now

By Admin | 2 July 2012

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS was announced last week at this year’s Google I/O expo, though has yet to be launched officially. But as it often transpires, several developers have gone to work on unofficial versions of the Jelly Bean ROM, and a new unofficial version was recently leaked for the HTC One X.

A certain XDA Developers Forum member with the user name “tgascoigne” posted a link to an unofficial bootable Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for the One X. This is not the first leaked ROM to be posted on the XDA forums and other developers’ sites, as Jelly Bean ROMs were recently leaked for both the Verizon and Sprint variants of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

However, this customized ROM is not in any means perfect. Several bugs have been reported, including, but not limited to audio, camera and WiFi features. The ROM does come with a functional Google Now and voice-activated search, as well as smoother animations on the user interface.

Before rooting any device and installing a customized ROM, it is recommended that you completely backup your data. Installing the ROM would completely erase any data on the device. Moreover, we recommend against performing these actions should you not have any experience or are unfamiliar with the processes.

The devices scheduled to receive the first batch of official Android 4.1 updates are the Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S. These updates are expected to roll out in about two weeks’ time.
