iPad Mini Photos Hit Twitter Ahead of Expected Unveiling
The iPad Mini is possibly the most widely-rumored device at the moment, and while Apple hasn’t officially said a word about the expected cut-size tablet, the stream of component leaks clearly indicates that it’s coming sooner or later in one form or another.
This time, 9to5Mac’s Sonny Dickson has posted images that purport to be that of the iPad Mini on Twitter. Again, readers are advised to take the post with a grain of salt, considering that Apple may yet spring a surprise on all of us. However, the photos seem to be largely in line with prior leaks on the new 7.85-inch tablet.
One of Dickson’s photos show the iPad Mini stacked on top of the full-size iPad. The smaller device is placed dead center on the iPad’s screen, and the proportions seem to indicate that the former got the narrower side bezel that was previously revealed in earlier leaks. Notably, this shot shows off the tablet’s back, revealing the absence of the black strip on the device’s top that signifies the presence of cellular radios. Despite this, it showed the narrower Lightning connector that Apple first introduced on the iPhone 5.
Apple should be sending out invitations within a matter of days for an unveiling for the iPad Mini sometime next week. While the full-size iPad has been completely dominant in the market, the success of lower-cost tablets like the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google’s Asus-manufactured Nexus 7 reveals the vulnerability inherent in fielding a tablet in only a single form factor.
