iOS 6.0.1 Bug Fix Update Now Available, WiFi Issues Still Not Resolved

The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 6, was released alongside the iPhone 5 almost two months ago to mixed reviews. It was an incremental update over earlier versions of the software, but a lot of attention has been placed on the debacle that surrounded the new Maps app, which eventually led to the ouster of the Apple executive in charge of iOS, Scott Forstall.

However, those weren’t the only issues that bedeviled users of the new operating system. Some have complained of battery issues with the iPhone 4 and 4S, while others claimed that there were WiFi connectivity problems in iOS 6.

Apple has since released a bug fix update that brings the version number to iOS 6.0.1, but it seems that not all of these problems have been solved.

ZDNet reports that there are still plenty of users who suffer from the issue where the WiFi option is simply grayed out. Unfortunately for iPhone 4S users, it seems that these devices are the most vulnerable to the issue, but any iOS 6 device could still suffer from it. Threads on Apple Discussions also see iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 users complaining of the WiFi issue.

For enterprise users, iOS 6’s handling of WiFi also throws up some problems. The operating system’s handling of WiFi connections seemingly prevents users from connecting to a private network, making it essentially useless for administrators who want to use their iPhones to configure equipment or for users who operate in a heavily-secured WiFi network.
