HTC Rezound ICS Rollout: Not Much Longer to Wait?

By Admin | 27 July 2012

In the past few weeks, we’ve provided more than a few updates on the status of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich rollouts for several phones, including the HTC Rezound. We had recently learned that the Rezound’s ICS update should be available anytime soon, and now the latest word from Droid-Life is that Verizon has given the go signal for the update to take place.

The aforementioned Android-friendly tech site provided a leaked roadmap of Verizon ICS updates, which listed four phones – the HTC Trophy, Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX and finally, the HTC Rezound.

According to the Comments section, the over-the-air update is in “queue”, although the rollout date and availability is still listed as TBD, or To Be Determined. The roadmap covered the week of July 24, 2012, so we’re wagering the rollouts should start within a few days from now.

There’s a good chance Verizon is waiting for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX updates to complete rolling out, and the document states this round of upgrades is 71 percent complete. HTC officials have also stated the Android 4.0 update for the Rezound should be out soon – to be exact, starting around the end of July and finishing up in August.

Prior to that, it was believed that the upgrade would be available as early as last month.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the second most recent Android operating system released, and will come with several improvements over Gingerbread, such as a face recognition system and improved multitasking capabilities.
