HTC Droid Incredible X Might Be Coming to Verizon in December
The HTC Droid Incredible X, or DIX, has been reported about quite a few times since the first leaks started emerging about 1-2 months ago. However, it wasn’t known then whether it would be a repackaged American version of another HTC device.
While that question has yet to be answered with full confidence, it’s looking more likely now that the Droid Incredible X will be Verizon’s take on the J Butterfly, a phablet that was recently announced as an exclusive for the Japanese market.
The HTC J Butterfly, for starters, is also a 5-inch phablet with a quad-core Snapdragon S4 powertrain clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2 GB RAM. The device has 16 GB internal storage and unlike HTC’s previous One phones, it supports microSD expansion.
The J Butterfly will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and run on 4G LTE networks. What really blew pundits away was the reported 442 pixels per inch density of the 5-inch Super LCD 3 high-definition display. If it has any Achilles heel, it’s the 2,020 mAh battery, but then again, few devices have been specced so impressively.
Will Verizon’s Droid Incredible X come with the same specs?
There have been more than a few occasions where American versions of devices would come with different specifications, but that might not be the case with the DIX. The bigger question, however, would be the release date.
Previously rumored to launch in November, the Droid Incredible X might be out by December due to Verizon’s “unwritten law” of waiting at least a month before releasing similar devices. Since that similar device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (due for release in late October), we could be seeing Verizon wait until the last week of November at the earliest before launching the Droid Incredible X.
