We don’t really talk about hhgregg as much as we do Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon, but this retailer has quite a presence in several parts of the U.S. And it’s been known for offering some tempting Black Friday deals over the past few years, including specials on the iPad and other well-loved gadgets. For Black Friday 2015, hhgregg is offering its fair share of tech discounts, but it’s interesting to note that the iPad isn’t getting as much “love” as it did in Black Fridays past.
For starters, hhgregg’s doorbusters will include the 16GB iPad Air 2, which will go on sale at 4 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving, at a $50 discount. Given the premium price of Apple’s tablets, $50 doesn’t really sound like much of a discount – you’ll still be paying $399.99 for the base, Wi-Fi only iPad Air 2. But a small discount certainly beats out no discount, and $50 off is, if any consolation, more than 10 percent off full retail pricing. You can also get discounts of $50 off the price of the original 16GB iPad Air, while all iPads available, regardless of model, storage, color, or connectivity, will be discounted by up to $50 off the original price.
If you’re looking for a nice deal on a super-cheap, off-brand Android tablet, hhgregg has one available as another Black Friday doorbuster. The Proscan 7-inch Android tablet is as close as you can get to a generic, and you can get it for only $19.99 on Thanksgiving Day. That’s almost $10 more affordable than the $29 RCA tablet available at Walmart. On top of that, you can also get more off-branded Android slates on the cheap – hhgregg has a 7-incher priced at $48, as well as a 9-incher with Android 4.4 KitKat and a bundled-in keyboard and case for $69.
Aside from the aforementioned tablets, hhgregg is also offering discounts on other PC products, including laptops. You can get ultra-affordable pricing on an entry-level, yet branded notebook like a 14-inch HP notebook powered by an AMD E1 processor and 2 GB RAM and sporting a 32 GB SSD underneath; that’s going to cost you only $199.99. Samsung’s Intel-powered Chromebook with 2GB RAM and 16GB SSD space is also priced at $199.99. You can also save some money on larger machines like a 15.6-inch Toshiba config with an Intel Core i7 chip, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive, as that’ll be selling at $100 off, or for only $599.99. Not a bad price for a laptop that seems to be geared towards productivity.
Are these the best prices on laptops, though? We’ve heard that Best Buy and Office Depot are offering an Acer Chromebook for only about $100; this Chromebook apparently has similar basic specs to the Samsung Chromebook we mentioned above. And if you’re looking for something in the middle of the HP notebook and Toshiba machine, there’s another HP laptop selling on the cheap – it comes with a 15.6-inch monitor, an AMD A8 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive for just $349.99, $90 off original pricing.
