AT&T LG Optimus G to Be Released on November 2 For $200

LG’s latest quad-core powerhouse, the Optimus G, has already been available for over three weeks in its native South Korea, and is due to hit Japan within the week on the NTT DoCoMo network.

Fortunately for expectant buyers in the United States, the new flagship smartphone wouldn’t take too much longer to hit store shelves in the country, since AT&T has just announced that the Optimus G would be available on November 2 for an on-contract price of $199.99.

Supposedly, pre-orders are due to start on October 16 for the smartphone. Going by the specifications, the Optimus G has enough to incite plenty of excitement among buyers. Up front is a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 pixel display that uses IPS technology, while a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz is paired with 2GB RAM to provide impressive performance. 4G LTE connectivity, a 2100mAh battery and an 8-megapixel camera round out the smartphone’s key features.

The device’s sheer processing power seems to have been enough to offset the rather disappointing usage of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich instead of the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

However, this update should be due soon enough, since LG has confirmed that the Optimus G in Korea is due for its Jelly Bean update this December. Consumers in the U.S. may have to wait a considerable amount of time longer, due to the usual carrier delays in the Android update process.

Aside from AT&T, Sprint is also expected to release the Optimus G at a similar $200 price point. However, the carrier will release LG’s new flagship on November 11, a week and a half after AT&T.
