Amazon Kindle Fire To Be Launched In The UK This October

By Admin | 13 July 2012

After months of insistent demand from British consumers, the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet will finally be launched in the United Kingdom.

Dixons Retail Group companies Currys and PC World announced their selection of Top 10 Christmas gifts for the 2012 holiday season, and the Kindle Fire was mentioned in the list. Dixons representatives gave October as the most likely release schedule, but no exact date or price point was given.

That means the Kindle Fire will be launching about a year after it was first released in the United States. That’s an awfully long time, but the Kindle Fire’s holiday 2012 release is good news for those who have always wanted to see what all the hubbub is about.

The two Dixons companies had the Kindle Fire sixth on their Top 10 list of Christmas gifts, three rungs below the soon-to-be-launched Google Nexus 7.

As the Nexus 7 is a new device, it’s understandable that it would rank third on the list – again, it would be a year since initial release once UK customers finally get their chance to get themselves a Kindle Fire. The Nexus 7 shall be the first tablet ever to ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

The device shall be launched next week in the UK, with the 8 GB version selling for £159 and the 16 GB version for £199. It is also expected to outdo the Kindle Fire in most areas, specifically processing power, thanks to its Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU.
